Four decades after the Bhopal gas leak of 1984, 377 tonnes of toxic waste was loaded in 12 sealed container trucks and sent out for disposal at the Pithampur industrial area in the district of Dhar. Much of the hazardous waste has remained in the Union Carbide factory, with authorities failing to clear it even after 40 years of the tragedy. Residents of Pithampur are protesting against it.
