The Sengol Controversy

Published On: June 27, 2024 - A heated war of words has erupted between the NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc over the Sengol. This after Samajwadi party MP RK Chaudhary demanded that the historic sceptre be replaced with the Constitution in the Lok Sabha. Chaudhary called Sengol an 'anachronistic symbol of monarchy' in a democratic India. The ruling dispensation has taken great exception to Chaudhary's remarks with the BJP saying how the Samajwadi Party was 'hell-bent' on insulting an integral part of Indian and Tamil culture.
