SC-ST Sub-Classification: How Will The Most Disadvantaged Be Identified?

The Supreme Court has delivered a historical judgment allowing states to identify disadvantaged and vulnerable castes within the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes communities. Doing away with the long-held perception of scheduled castes being homogenous the judgment widens the net of reservation to cover the more disadvantaged communities.
