PM Modi in Ukraine: PM Modi to Travel From Poland to Kyiv by Train

Published On: August 22, 2024 - Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to arrive in Ukraine on Friday for a landmark visit, marking his first trip to the country since Kyiv was attacked by Russian forces in the spring of 2022. This visit is also significant as it will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister since Ukraine gained independence in 1991. Modi's visit, taking place amid the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war, coincides with Ukraine's National Flag Day. Interestingly, instead of flying from Warsaw to Kyiv, PM Modi will travel by train, taking a 10-hour journey aboard the 'Rail Force One,' passing through a warzone. Ahead of his visit, PM Modi emphasized India's commitment to permanent peace in the region, advocating for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve conflicts. He reiterated that 'this is not an era of war' while addressing an Indian community event in Warsaw, Poland.
