The report, led by former President Ram Nath Kovind, was presented to the Cabinet for consideration. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that simultaneous polls would occur in two phases. In the first phase, Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be held together, while the second phase will cover local body elections within 100 days of the general elections. He also mentioned that an Implementation Group would be formed to carry out the Kovind panel’s recommendations on simultaneous elections.
