Militants Launched Gun Attack in Jiribam

Published on: September 18, 2024 - On Tuesday night, militants launched a gun attack on a Meitei village in Jiribam district, firing several rounds from sophisticated weapons around 7 PM. Village volunteers retaliated, and security forces quickly arrived to contain the situation. Both sides ceased fire by 8 PM, with no injuries reported. Meanwhile, the 1,643 km India-Myanmar border will be fenced at a cost of Rs 31,000 crore. Union Home Minister Amit Shah noted that 30 km of fencing is complete, linking the porous border to ethnic violence in Manipur.
