Published On: August 23, 2024 - The Union Ministry of Home Affairs is reviewing the ground rules for Kuki-Zo insurgent groups in Manipur, who have been under a Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement since 2008. The government is considering relocating SoO camps away from Meitei-dominated valley districts and deeper into the hills. Since August 19, three rounds of talks have been held between Kuki-Zo insurgent groups and government officials, focusing on revising the ground rules. Under the SoO agreement, around 2,200 cadres live in 14 designated camps, with regular inspections conducted by a State-appointed monitoring agency.
