Published On: October 09, 2024 - In a dramatic outcome of the Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections, National Conference secured 42 seats of the total 95-member assembly while its alliance partner Congress secured 6 seats. This brings the NC-Congress alliance to the magic number of 48 to form the next government. While the BJP secured 29 seats in the Jammu region, other parties were mostly decimated. For the first time, the Aam Aadmi Party created inroads by winning the Doda seat of the Jammu division. Five seats would be now nominated by the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha. Meanwhile, Farooq Abdullah declared Omar Abdullah as the next Chief Minister of J&K. Was it a blunder for BJP to release Engineer Rashid from Tihar Jail ahead of elections?
